What is financial coaching?
Financial Wellness Coaching is a life changing, proven method to help people improve how they manage and think about money. It combines solid and effective money tracking and planning tools with a process to identify and change self defeating money behaviors.
How long does the process take?
The journey to financial wellness is a process, not a "quick fix." The time it takes varies, depending on the individual's specific situation and needs. To be most beneficial, I recommend clients commit to one year. Specific financial challenges face us in different months as we proceed through a full year (taxes, holidays, birthdays, vacations, etc.).
|
How often do we meet?
The first and second appointments are generally an hour and a half and take place in the first 2 weeks. Following these, most clients proceed with 3 one hour sessions per month for 2-3 months, and then move to a one hour session every other week. As you gain more comfort and confidence, sessions become less frequent.
How is this different from financial advising and credit or debt counseling?
Financial Wellness Coaching is unique and fills the gap not currently addressed by other financial services. I sell no investment products nor do I give investment advice. Our work applies to non-invested money; the money a person deals and interacts with on a daily basis.

Credit and debt counseling are temporary fixes at best. Without discovering the underlying issues that cause financial distress, many fall right back into debt. Financial Wellness Coaching not only offers a solution to breaking the debt cycle and building realistic plans, but also promotes self-awareness and lifelong solutions to self defeating money behaviors.

One of the most important benefits I offer is support along your journey. I am a teacher, guide and mentor for you. Change is not always easy. And you will not be doing this alone!
What about spending addiction? Can this process help?
Yes. Sometimes people are unable to break the habit of overspending no matter what they do, because they are in an addictive cycle. If you believe this to be true for you, this process can help. I have over 20 years experience helping those who struggle with addiction. And this process has all the components to help heal. Other links you may find helpful are:

Do we need to meet in person?
Absolutely not. In fact, this process is very convenient and successful when done using phone, internet and screen sharing, and this is my method of coaching. Therefore, I am available to work with clients nationwide.
What do I need to begin?
I utilize a specialized software program, called the MoneyMinder® created by the Financial Recovery Institute , for which you will need access to a computer and Excel 04 or later. A contract specifying payment and cancellation policies is signed prior to the first appointment.
